Choir
The UAK, Young Academics' Choir, was founded by Svend G Asmussen in 1944 during WW2. In 2004 the choir celebrated its 60th anniversary, and it is thus one of the oldest choirs in Copenhagen.
Though rooted in the Classical vocal music, the choir frequently performs contemporary Scandinavian compositions.
In 1944 the choir dedicated itself to promoting contemporary
Danish and Nordic choral music.

Thus the latest CD by the UAK 'Just before Spring' has its main source in a Nordic composers' competition.
The UAK gives 15-20 concerts per year and attempts to make a concert tour in Denmark or abroad once a year. The UAK is an experienced choir with a wide and varied repertoire. The UAK has given concerts in almost all parts of Denmark and a large number of countries abroad, including Sweden, Latvia, the US Virgin Islands, Hungary and Argentina. For the weekly rehearsals, however, the venue is the Thanksgiving Church (Taksigelseskirken) in Copenhagen. |
